Overheard –

‘… had a severe pain in her legs until she attended mataji’s satsang’. And now, she goes on long walks all by herself’

Could hardly resist asking them the name and address of the mataji! I do have a long list of ailments that troubles friends and family! And I am sure the MATAJI would help us in getting healthy, wealthy and wise!

Nothing to lose.

There are times when you hold yourself back and stop being adventurous.
Because it is rather safe to decide the next step from the various preset options available to choose.
That is when it helps to learn that nothing in the world matters
when you have not even a single thing left to lose.

Scandulous yet true..

I have a thing for fiction… They make my imagination fly, taking me to places unknown, waiting to be explored. It makes me analyze life and its nuances in my own way..

Amongst bloggers, I particularly like this one for her straight and somewhat realistic fictions (though I am not sure if it would be approved by the so called conservatives!)

Reporting from Solan

Its green, cool (cold at times), sunny, pollution-free (atleast the colony where we live in), peaceful, and I am totally loving it!!!

Isn’t it a great feeling when the only sound that wakes you up is that of birds chirping near your window? And you witness sunrise, sunset, moonrise, stars, all from your balcony and wonder why you are missing out on this privilige? Isn’t it amazing that you ACTUALLY feel the night and darkness, and not let its identity get lost in the city lamps? Oh, and did I mention the freshest of vegetables, fruits, and even the water? Do I sound overwhelmed? Well of course I am!!! Especially because I am coming back to this place after 2 years! And I am loving every moment of it! Yes, even the steep walk up to my house!

1. WAS YOUR FIRST PREGNANCY PLANNED?

Yes, we had been planning it for quite some time, but thanks to my insulin levels, and misleading diagnosis, things got delayed…

2. WERE YOU MARRIED AT THE TIME?

Oh yes! Six years !!

3. WHAT WERE YOUR REACTIONS?

I half-expected the test to be positive, and so it wasn’t really a surprise for me!!

4. WAS ABORTION AN OPTION FOR YOU?

Never..

5. HOW OLD WERE YOU?
28years.
6. HOW DID YOU FIND OUT YOU WERE PREGNANT?

One of those OTC pregnancy tests..later confirmed by the pregnancy-scan..

And did I tell you about the long dance sessions, moving around with heavy stuff, a Goa trip, a 15(or was it more)kms bike ride with A driving almost blindly(his specs got lost in the water!) – all while  I was pregnant, of course we didn’t know about it!

And yes, my sister’s wedding!

I think yoga helped a lot in keeping me healthy and largely fit..

T.V….. I just could not watch it….

12. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CHILD’S SEX?

Diya On Her Birthday (8th Dec 2007)

13. DID YOU WISH YOU HAD THE OPPOSITE SEX OF WHAT YOU WERE GETTING?
Yes, in the initial days of my pregnancy, I did wish for a boy. Why? I guess it was to make sure that my baby doesn’t go through bias in the society. Eventually, I realized how wrong the whole mindset was. And as the days progressed, I started craving for a girl… And that is what God blessed me with!
14. HOW MANY POUNDS DID YOU GAIN THROUGHOUT THE PREGNANCY?
7-8kgs

17. DID YOU HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS DURING YOUR PREGNANCY?

Yes, had a couple of terrifying experiences..

18. WHERE DID YOU GIVE BIRTH?

Bangalore..

19. HOW MANY HOURS WERE YOU IN LABOR?
I didn’t get a chance to experience labor pains(even after the pain inducing drug). And they had to perform a C-sec. Diya had stopped moving inside, and my doc wanted to take her out as soon as possible..

20. WHO DROVE YOU TO THE HOSPITAL/BIRTH CENTER?

A, we thought it was just a routine test when the doc asked me to get admitted and go into labor as soon as possible..

21. WHO WATCHED YOU GIVE BIRTH?

My favourite doc, and n number of other people..

It is weird, but I remember them talking to each other about the music they played in the common areas of the hospital. Also, I remember my doc scolding one of the nurses for bringing the wrong kind of ‘needle’. I am hoping they did use the right one eventually 😉

22. WAS IT NATURAL OR C-SECTION?
C-Section. My doc told me that there was an option for natural birth as well, but it could have taken hours, and considering Diya’s lack of movements, it was not advisable..
23. DID YOU TAKE MEDICINE TO EASE THE PAIN?
They gave me local anesthesia..
And I took painkillers for 2 days after the operation.
24. HOW MUCH DID YOUR CHILD WEIGH?
2.38 kgs. She was a small baby (had lost some weight within me, and hence that lack of movement)
25. WHEN WAS YOUR CHILD ACTUALLY BORN ?

8th Dec, 2007. Though A was praying hard that it would be 25th Dec , as the reports predicted earlier..

26. WHAT WAS YOUR REACTION WHEN THE DOCTOR ANNOUNCED THE SEX OF THE BABY?

I was so sure of the baby being a girl that the news didn’t do much to me. My doc got worried for a sec, thinking that I expected a boy and was disappointed 🙂

27. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST REACTION ON SEEING THE BABY?

I was crying on the Operation table.. and continued doing so even after they brought me out!

28. DID YOU CRY?
bucket full of tears!!
29. WHAT DID YOU NAME HIM/HER?
‘Diya’, couldn’t think of anything better!
30. HOW OLD IS YOUR FIRST BORN TODAY

3 days short of being 15 month old..

Convenience is –

– putting the responsibility of your actions on the other person, and then shrugging off their sufferings by saying he/she deserved it..

If you look around, especially in case of abusive relationships, you would discover a pattern – the abuser tries to pose as the victim, someone who is vulnerable, and is led to these ‘reactions’ by some prolonged provocations by the other person. They also try to escape the responsibility of being an equal partner in the relationship. And when the relationship starts falling apart, then instead of collecting the remaining pieces and trying to re-build things, they start collecting accusations to be  hurled at the other person.

And then there is no choice left but destruction of something that was hailed as beautiful once.
